Once upon a time, a hungry Jackal was searching for food near a village. While running away from some dogs, he jumped into a big pot of blue dye kept by a washerman. When the jackal came out, his whole body had turned bright blue!

The animals in the forest had never seen a blue animal before. They were surprised and a little scared. The jackal cleverly told them, ‘I am a special animal sent by the gods to be your king.’

The lion, tiger, deer, and all the other animals believed him. They began to respect and obey the blue jackal. The jackal enjoyed being the king and ordered the other animals to bring him food.

One night, the jackal heard a group of jackals howling in the forest. He forgot he was pretending and started howling loudly, too.

The animals immediately realised that he was just an ordinary jackal with blue fur. They became angry because he had tricked them.

The animals chased him away from the forest.

Moral: We should always be honest and never pretend to be someone we are not.
