The boy who changed the morning

Arjun lived in a busy town where everyone rushed through their day. One winter morning, on his way to school, he noticed an old man struggling to move his vegetable cart up a slope. People walked past, pretending not to see. Arjun hesitated—he was already running late. But something inside him said, ‘If not me, then who?’

He put down his schoolbag and ran to help. The old man smiled gratefully as Arjun pushed the cart with all his strength. Soon, a few others joined in. Within minutes, the cart reached the top of the slope.

Arjun continued to school, expecting scolding for being late. Instead, his teacher listened and said, ‘You did the right thing. Sometimes kindness teaches more than books.’

The next day, Arjun saw something new: more people helping each other on the street. His one small act had inspired a ripple of kindness. And he realised that even a simple choice can brighten an entire community.
